The King’s Academy Statement of Faith
The Word of God
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the inspired, inerrant Word of God, complete as the revelation of God’s will for salvation, and the supreme and final authority in all matters to which they speak. (II Timothy 3:15 & 16; II Peter 1:20 & 21)
The Triune God
We believe there is one God (Deut. 6:4), the Creator and Sustainer of all things (Gen. 1:1 & 26), Who eternally co-exists in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, as revealed in the Scriptures. (Matt. 28:19)
The Person and Work of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s eternal Son and has precisely the same nature (Phil. 2:6), perfection and attributes as God the Father and God the Holy Spirit (John 1: 1& 2). We believe that He is both wholly God and wholly man (Phil 2:7), conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary (Isaiah 7:14; Matt. 1:23; Luke 1:27 & 35). We also believe in His sinless life (Heb. 4:15, 7:26), His substitutionary atoning death on the cross (I Cor. 15:3; Eph. 1:7; Phil. 2:8; Heb. 2:9), His bodily resurrection from the dead (I Cor. 15:4 & 20), His ascension into heaven (Acts 1:9; Eph. 1:20), His priestly intercession on behalf of His people (Heb. 7:25; I John 2:1), and His personal, imminent, visible return from heaven with power and great glory (Matt 24:30).
The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment (John 16: 8 – 11); and that He is the supernatural agent in regeneration (Titus 3:5); baptizing all believers into the body of Christ (I Cor. 12:13); indwelling (Rom. 8:9) and sealing them unto the day of redemption (Eph. 1: 13 & 14). We further believe that He is the divine teacher who guides believers into all truth (John 16:13, I Cor. 2:9 & 10); and that it is the privilege and duty of all saved to be filled with the Spirit (Eph. 5:18); to walk in the Spirit as to produce the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22 & 23); and to utilize the gifts of the Spirit for the benefit of others (I Cor. 12:7 – 11).
The Sinful Condition of Man
We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God (Gen. 1:26 & 27); but by yielding to Satan’s temptation (Gen. 3:1; I Peter 5:8; Rev. 12:9); Adam sinned; the race fell; man inherited a sinful nature and became alienated from God (Rom. 3:22 & 23, 5:12). We also believe that man is totally depraved, and of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition (Eph. 2:1 – 3 & 12).
The Gift of Salvation
We believe in salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:8 & 9). This salvation is based upon the sovereign grace of God, was purchased by Christ’s shed blood and death on the cross (Eph. 1:7, Col. 1:14 & Heb. 9:22), and is received by man through faith alone (Rom. 3:22), apart from any human merit, works, or ritual (Rom. 3:28). We further believe that salvation results in righteous living, good works, and proper social concern (Titus 2:4).
The Church
We believe in both the universal church (Matt. 16:18) and the local church (Heb. 10:25, Matt. 18:17). The universal church is the spiritual body of which Christ is the head. It is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit. We believe that this body expresses itself through local assemblies for instruction, for evangelism and for service (Acts 2:42, Eph. 4:11 – 16).
The Eternal State
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment (John 5:28 – 29).
Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct
The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of The King’s Academy’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Board of Directors is The King’s Academy’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
